evo 4 clutch? Transfer box? everything went with a bang!

My clutch went a couple months back and got a friend to fit a new one. Standard clutch nothing nice. Once it was done there was some form of fluid leaking but was unsure what it was.
Car had been left for 2 weeks. When took up the motorway it started to loose power. Pulled over- as got into third gear to slow down the whole car went bang- couldnt get car out of 3rd gear- all 4 wheels completely locked in place. Once got it into neutral still couldnt move car because locked?

What has happened?! Any ideas? I assumed it was clutch- but have also been told it could be Transfer box and possibly gearbox as well? But others have said it could be as simple as the clip insude the clutch?
As it is a new clutch fitted will it need replacing? And do anyone know any recommended garages for this? As friends probably not the best mechanics for these cars!

oh dear... i thought you had sorted everything after not being around for a while!! :whistling:

if it wont go into gear could it be the gear linkage bracket? im not too sure though.... someone will be along for ya!!

no idea! wouldnt have a clue whats happened to it! Have spoken to el already but hopefully he be able to have better understanding here! lol! xx

Id say seeing a though you had lost the oil then went off down the motorway that either gearbox or transfer box has decided it don't like being. Ran without oil so gave up

Gearbox apparantly! Thanks people. Are gearbox's better off replacing or repairing? If replacing anyone doing spares atm? xx

i would personally replace it for piece of mind. maybe something from a later evo... i think they fit ok???? someone will say for sure
