evo 4 boost adjustment

hi all. i was given a manual boost valve that goes inline on the actuator pipe. are these any good to lift my boost or are they no good for evo's. if not whats the best way to do this easy mod. thanks. my guage shows its at 0.8bar would like to raise it to at least 1.0bar. ?

ball and spring type valve is fine, dont turn the boost up to much without getting it checked.

I do not recommend using manual ones but at the end of the day it is up to you. They are known to be unreliable at times, some times they run just fine too.

I have to agree with Sponners, you should get it checked out at time of fitting by some one with an accurate boost gauge as not all gauges read correctly.

i would say they are rubbish mate.
high chance of them messing up.
if so, go for the electronic one which shows you an internal display.
looks the bit aswell!

Oi Mr Lancer,
We do not say rubbish if the person already has the item, if he/she does already have the item then we say that it is not recommended!!!!

There are many turbo cars running on the bleed valves that have no issues. Granted, the majority of them are branded ones (that may have been professionally installed) and not the "R" or "Super" type ones that ebayers have listed like the plague which R the ones to avoid like the plague as they are prone to over boosting the turbo which makes the engine go POP!!!!

You will need to get trained up a little buddy, I think you need to add my suggestion to your ADVISORY LIST!!!

so wats the way forward with lifting my boost, as most people are running 1.0/1.2 bar.

The most safest way is to have an electronic boost controller, there are many different ones available on the market. It all boils down to your budget.

I've found the dawes type valves very reliable (well......there isn't exactly a lot to go wrong with them)

as el said have found bleed valves to fluctuate boost levels a bit, but as long as you have a gauge to monitor things then you'll be fine.

i would also change your actuator if u wanting 2 up your boost e8 are the 1's to go 4
