Evo 4, 7engine, turns over but will not start...Help

Hi guys
long story short,
Was racing, ancillary belt snapped, ripped a chunk of metal from one of the pulleys, god knows how.
Carried on with the race without the belt. Race was about 10mins without the belt. Never overheated.

When I turned it off, about 30mins later, tried to start and there was nothing. It tried turning but didn't start.
Spark plugs renewed and are sparking well,
Fuel is present when turning over,
All Pistons are moving when turning over.
Timing belt is still tight, doesn't looked to have jumped.

Unsure how to test cam/crank sensor.
No fault codes


What else could it be? I have a spare 7head complete, just wondering if swapping it would do anything.
Plus I would like to rebuild the engine in the near future with capability of round 700bhp. Any advise on how to go about this using the block I have. I'm aware it's not going to be cheap but I would like some advise to keep the cost down.

Balance shaft belt might have snapped and knocked the cam belt round a few teeth on the crank. Have you checked cambelt timing just at the cams or on the crank as well ?

Op- I would do as Lee has recommended. Check crank and cam sensor?

As for forging later. You have lots of options to choose from and varying opinions on these. It will come down to personal choice if how you like to drive it and what characteristics you want in the car!!

I have only checked at the cams, I'm in Norway till Tuesday so will give it a look at the crank when I get back. Cheers guys.

Tom, check your Pm, also that's why I was so confused, why did it run with no problems, then when trying to start back up it just refused to. I thought it may have been the battery As it would have drained while racing cause the alternator would not be able charge the battery with the snapped ancillary belt. But tried with a new battery and still no luck.

It may have happened after you stopped. Failed sensor maybe??

Would that not show up on the fault code when bridging pins 1 an 4? If it was a failed sensor would it be a matter of connecting a voltmeter to it and checking the continuity?
