Ethanol?

Hi all, is it true that if ethanol is put in screen wash bottle it will cool better than just water, or is this a myth?

what do you mean it will cool better?

the only advantage of putting ethanol in the screen wash is it can go down to a lower temperature and is good for preventing freezing in the winter. but that only depends on how strong the ethanol is.

Sorry did not word properly, I meant to say will it cool the radiator and intercooler down better when sprayed on?

Ethanol is flamable, i wouldnt be spraying it around my engine bay!

i thought you meant for your windscreen only. in the winter it works and will prevent your washer pipes freezing so easily.

Do not play with liquids you know nothing about! Ethanol ( C2H5OH ) is pure alcohol,colourless and very highly flamable, it could even ignite from just too much sun heat and radiation.

Ok, thanks for the advice. This idea did come from an S3 owner, perhaps he was running scared!
