well i got up this morning to drop the missus off at her new job, so went out to the car to let it warm up like i do before i go out in it
and i have noticed the engine light is on? it is due a service around now
so does the light come on when a service is due??? or will it be something else
help

i've got it booked in at wallace performance for a service on friday,
and they are gonna have a look while its in there
hopefully all ok

Depends on what one it is, mine is just fluids, filters and spark plugs as my cam belt etc was just changed 5k miles ago
I have a price for what mine is going to be

No dont believe the light will come on when a service is due, should of just dont the ol' bridge a pin in the diagnosis port!

Thats gonna cost getting on their 'machine'. Do it yourself and find out what it is and cancel that bit of 'work to be carried out'

Just a thought, keep an eye on the EML if it keeps coming on while the engine has warmed up IE after 3 mins of turning engine over you might find the Cam Posision Sensor is on its way out, Common fault on Evos.

When it happened to you, did you drive the car again in the following few hours?
If the cam posison sensor has or is on its way out, you aint going anywhere for a few hours once you turn the engine off. Unless you fix it.
