Engine build by MG Autos inc drop in deal

I'm new to engine building so all this is new to me.

Given my car to MG autos to do a drop in deal and they found the following so it's going to be full engine build.

Big thanks to MG autos for looking after me on this work.

Will update with more pictures as the work progresses.

REALLY???????? This is what happened when i spent £3400 cash with MG auto's 15 miles after picking the car up!!

over 2bar of boost waked up it's arse on a standard VI engine covered 45k!





Was told yep we can map it safe!!!




Was told it would cost me another £3000 to fix and that with using some second hand parts aswell!!!

What did you get done for £3400? I only ask this as the rods look oem rather than upgraded rods to prevent things like that.

Well since you asked i will tell!!

remap
greddy intercooler
HKS induction filter
3 port boost solinoid
new spark plugs
rocker cover gasket
underseal
fit manifold,turbo elbow and exhaust (supplied by me)
fit front and rear strut brace's (supplied by me)

Car was mapped and was hitting well over 2bar of boost on standard internals. Was told it was hitting over 2bar by matt (in front of witnesses) on live road mapping so had to be turned down as his standard pre loaded map he use on the evo V & VI was making my car boost well over the norm!! Was told it was a great engine and when the sh.t hit the fan 15 miles later i was told something i could not believe!

Wow that's bad I have only had a couple of dealings with them but always been spot on and helpfull
I haven't had an engine built or mapped by them though

Don't get me wrong they were very helpful at first when the deposit needed to be paid But when the sh.t hit the fan it was a different matter:arms:

I do have to say the attention to detail was good but when things went wrong it was a completely different story.

Listen everybody f..ks up but it's how they deal with the f..k up that count's and on this occasion they did not do what i expected them too:hm:

Alway's go in to any tuner with your eye's wide open!

That's the chance you take having a standard car mapped James, especially and older one.
Look at my car it's over the limit really on standard rods 424/440, The thing is i asked them to do it as did you so if it went bang i wouldn't expect them to sort it out.
It's not as if you were dragged in off the street and had the map forced on you.
Every trader as skeletons in the closet and i honestly don't know of any that don't.
I'm not sticking up for MG's just saying if you tune a standard car you should expect the worst at times.

Yes Agreed Nick but i wasn't told what coud hppen before i handed my money over and YES that was my fault for being so dumb and not doing my research properly, but what followed is what took the p..s.

The thing is the report i had done on the engine and bent rod told a completely different story to what i was told by MG! I will just put that down to me being so naive. Shame really as they could of had a further £8k off me if they had been decent enough but CPP got it instead!

Simon the bores are out of spec by the looks of it. I'm no mechanic but the block is going to the machine shop to get re honed.

Knowing its done 75k miles, would been nearly been a dead cert the engines out of spec, and dropping the sump and big ends would have sufficed in knowing it was out of spec, this would have leaved you the option to bolt it back together and drive away at minimum cost, now it's in a million pieces and you HAVE to have full build, just another story of someone being backed into a corner IMO

Simon I gave my car hoping it needed a full rebuild as I'm the type to spend money on something that I'm planning to keep. I knew the costs before hand and was told by a few mates who have had high powered jap cars before that having full build is better than a half a build.

But at first I was just hoping a drop in would do. But then after a while I was hoping it would need a full build as in that way itl be a fresh engine. This engine has been messed about with before by the previous trader who used to look after it. It had loads of problems and MG autos sorted them out for me.

Just always have the mindset and funds, that any internal work could end up in a full build!
