Engine and ecu question

ive been told i have an Evo 6 engine, but i have an evo 4 ecu, is this possible? i apologise for my stupidness but i know fook all bout evos yet

Its fine if you have evo4 injectors. They would be yellow top...

check your engine number?

are the injectors pink or yellow?

You may well find its running rich with 560cc injectors from an evo6 with an evo4 ecu

its running very rich i can smell fuel when i boot it and the petrol consumption is really bad

That would also indicate that you do have the bigger 560 injectors. The evo4 ecu is set up to run smaller 510 injectors so running the bigger injectors would cause more fuel to be used.
Altho this doesn't mean you have a 6 engine

The engine number can be seen on the front left of the engine (when standing at the front of the car) about half way down the block
