Where is the ECU on an Evo 4 and how can I tell if it's been changed or remapped? Much love and appreciation

Should be in a metal case. If its a black plastic case then it may well be a 5/6 ecu.
You can't tell if its been mapped until you get ecuflash hooked up and read the rom thats on it.

Evo 4 ECU is not mappable, so if it's in a metal case, it's a 4 ECU and not been mapped. As said, in the passenger footwell.
