hi all ,im looking into fitting a later ecu from a 7 or 8 into my e5 and remove the maf ,is this a good move or not, will i get more from the later ecu???can someone give me a full list of parts to do this ...

I take it your looking to run the car on speed density
I know you can do this on most evos not sure you'd need to change the ecu though.
You'll need to fit air temp sensor and a map sensor. These parts are already fitted to the 9 inlet manifold but can always be retro fitted to standard inlet via a vac pipe for map sensor which needs to be a pipe on its own with nothing t'd off it. Air temp can be drilled and tapped into hard pipe just before throttle body.
Not sure on the wiring side of it though.
As for actually fitting a later ecu the 5-7 ecu is a 4 plug but 8/9 is a 3 plug so won't fit unless you get a harness adaptor which is very expensive and not worth it.

Did think about running speed density.. Good reason alone is it gets rid of the maf probably not with it for the cost and car spec mind..

Running the extra wiring in would be a pain and I guess it's instant remap to get it to run?

you utilise the Maf wiring

Pros/cons
Remap required.
Cost of parts to gain 10-20bhp is not worth it.
Slightly smoother and no need to adjust boost settings for different air temps.
