E4 temp sender info, what does what

I've just changed my thermostat on my Evo 4 due to the car temp dropping off and my heater blowing cool on the motorway. I decided to take the car to work yesterday pulled up in the car park and got a little puff of steam from the radiator due to my fan not kicking in...
Found there are 2 temp sender's..one for the dash gauge and one for the signal to the Ecu...
I'm guessing the the one that sends the signal to the ecu controls the fan?

Yeah I unplugged that one and the gauge read nothing so I assumed the other went to the ecu and from that to the fan.I was hoping someone knew for sure.
I want to sort it asap as I've unplugged the fan from the engine loom and wired it to a switch to safely get to work and back,fingers crossed the sensors here tomorrow and I can give it some barstool again lol......The joys,broke it once a week so far,4th week lucky
