I'm in a bit of a coin flip situation but not sure witch path to take..
So advice would be ace....

On the 31st of this month I'm getting rid of my subaru and getting an EVO but do I stick about 1500 - 2000 in a part ex with my subaru and get a decent running EVO or do a deal swap my subaru with a tidy EVO 4 GSR that's got engine issues. But stick the 1500- 2000 into an decent engine and quality clutch.... I'm thinking do the swap but what if its got diff issues ect..

You guys have herd my issues so please post away and let me no

What kind of impreza do you have mate, how much you value it at. I wouldnt get something with issues id rather px and add cash for a good evo

I've a version 6 classic turbo with a few upgrade like 340mm front discs prodrive exhaust prodrive ecu and suspension 17" roto wheels in mica blue with fsh and 76.700 miles mot'd till oct. 3 p owners its worth 2.5k easy uk car runs around 250's.. A dealer on the south coast said 2250 and mine for 5500 purply blue evo 6 Nice

Id go for something like that mate, evo 6 is the best lol (I own one) but they have stronger engines etc. Not many people with evos will want a subaru in px as most have already owned them before moving on to evos. Least if you trade with a dealer any issues you can take it back aswell......

The dealer is nearly 200 mile away lol.. Not a trip I want todo 3 times plus 2250 is a little over my 2000 max limit.. I do agree the 6 is king... Ha why do you think im getting rid of my subaru gotta work your way up.

Buying a car with just an engine issue is not a prob at all and it leaves you plenty cash to put a new engine in but NOT a 4 engine go for a later one. As long as u have assurance it's only the engine that's gone and some kind of gaurentee

Yeah agree with that aswell mate, as long as it was only the engine guarenteed. But on the same note id rather buy a 5 or 6 for the same money, although i cant see you getting a great example for £4500.

No you won't get a great 6 for that money and you would hard pushed to find a V how ever he can get a really nice IV though.

I wouldn't expect a mint evo 5 / 6 for that sort of money but everything can be put right.. The engine I've been offered is off here from a breaker sure he said it was out a 6 but would need to double check to be 100% the 4 is nice body's mint good wheels had brembo fronts and rears.. Good inside... And guy says its got no Other issuses apart from it gonna drop a shell.. Only thing that lets the 4 down is its not got the blown arches

The car in question is £5000 not £4500 he only wants 2250 cash from my pocket.. The advantage of doing the deal with the 4 is I'd have a good engine with peace of mind the cats in good condition only thing i cant check is for any knocks from bushes ect, gear box an diff and this ayc thing witch being a subaru owner (ATM) im not to clued up on it yet I could get the other one and it go bang in 1500 miles as its a bit of a deal there no warranty or that coming with the car

Well guys I've got my evo picked up an evo 4 gsr well i collect next week deposits all paid.. cars really clean except its got a bottom end knock and its the only problem so do I rip out the engine and drop an evo 6/7 or 8 engine in it I'd do I just. Ba new billet crank with new bearings and rod bolts. I'm unsure

Hi Danny 5/6/7 engine and onwards will be better. Just a price hike every time you go up an evolution. You may need to look into ECU differences too, but I could be wrong (that could be something from my Subaru days :razz

The 4 blocks are rubbish so don't rebuild, it's the actual design of the block and how it houses a certain bearing that messes everything up.

My advice get a good 5/6 engine and go from there.
