digital temp gauge setting ?

hello all i got a evo 4 a few months ago and it has a Pivot Fan Controller with Water Temperature Gauge digital readout on the dash i have no paperwork on this unit i removed the car battery yesterday to charge it went out in the car today and temp gauge went up to 99 this is a link to the unit that is fitted in my evo Pivot Fan Controller with Water Temperature
now as i removed the battery do i need to set this temp gauge up again ? if yes is it as simple as temp up and down button as it has no set button on it anybody have one of these fitted thank you mark

is there any way i can test if this is working ? i turned the ignition on and pushed the down button untill it was reading 80 then went for a drive once the reading he 80 it started flashing but carryed on climbing to 99 befor the fan came on ?
