Ok - Just got the Evo friday.

Before I had a standard *spit* WRX Subaru impreza - which admittedly I loved.

But I sold it because 1 run to me "outlaws" and then to the "outlaws" other daughters house being a round trip of approx 200 miles, used a full tank of about 52 litres.

Today with the new Evo, I did 120 miles and filled the tank (super unleaded at £1.20 odd a litre.) Total cost £23

Turns out that the scoob was about 15 mls to the gallon and the Evo is about 26 / gallon.

WTF was wrong with that WRX ?

Any ideas ?

P.s. The Evo is just quality with a Capital "Q" in comparison :D

It could be that you know the scooby more and so drove it harder. Or maybe it needed driving harder.
Or maybe, as nicer sounding engine as it is, it was just a bit thirsty.

Anyway MPG sums aint the sort of thing you should do with these cars. :D

Update

:D

Now down from 26 to 24mpg. :D

Must be driving it a bit harder now I'm getting used to the beast.

It's not that bad really, a few right foot lead feelings and general round town driving.

The wrx was a lot worse specially down in the town.

Well pleased.

what ive noticed from tuning a evo 8 is that you get better mpg and power after a reasonable reflash of the ecu.....when i look at what the std map looks like from the factory , it seems to be pretty rich in the high load areas(sometimes as rich as 8.7-9:1)..that can only hurt fuel economy and it wont make power...when you reflash the ecu and set afr to around 11.7:1 or so, in the high load ares and still lean out he low load areas a bit,,fuel economy is greatly improved along with power..sometimes as much as 40+whp
