over the past couple of days the car has developed a creaking noise coming from the rear, its hard to pin point it exactly but it sounds more metallic than rubber, could it be the weather with it being hot or dry and the arms or bushes needing lubricating? or could this be something much more serious?

Hi buddy,
is the car making a noise when you go over speed ramps???

I suspect it may well be the rear struts. This is a fault that shows itself in the nice hot weather that we are experiencing.

Go to the rear of the car and lean down on each side of the boot lid just above the position of the suspension legs, one at a time lol!!! Give it a bouncing motion with some pressure. Make sure that the car is on a flat surface with the handbrake down.

I think you may well hear the noise.

There is not much you can do if the legs are squeaking/creaking except for replacing them or the strut tops.

There are several tests that can be done by process of elimination.

Try this one first and get back to me right here.

Hi m8, av tested it and yes the noise happens, sounds like it might be all the way across as its not just coming from one side, is it the struts then?

Without a physical inspection I can not rule out any thing else right now buddy. I am pretty certain that it is the struts and if it was me, I would carry on driving, all be it sensibly, then do the work when the pocket could manage it.

You could take it to a Kwik Fit just to get a second opinion, they will shove it on the ramp and have a good look around, it is too new to have bush issues but at least if they confirm what I am saying you can breath a little easier so I suggest you go for it.

Let me know what their findings are buddy.
