Cooling fans - help

I think I know the answer but just thought I would check with those that know;

Can add some piccies if helps.

Facing the car from the front it would appear I have two fans mounted to my radiator;

1. (which looks slimline and probably aftermarket) mounted to the front of the rad on the left hand side behind the front bumper grille; and
2. On the engine side, mounted on the right hand side what would appear to be the original fan.

My car is a 9 GT.

Has the front one been added aftermarket for extra cooling?

When the fan kicks in it is only the slim line one on the front that comes on.

Should they both come on?
Is the aftermarket one correctly placed?
can the OEM one then be removed or should that function too?

As far as I know the radiator is OEM

Front fan is for Air Con.

Air con is not really needed in your climate and can be removed opening up more air flow to the radiator and also less weight.

So it should be the one in the engine bay that comes on to cool the engine and not the one on the front lefy behind the grille?

So has this been wired up wrong then.

Sorry for stupid questions as I was expecting the one in the engine bay to kick in to cool down the engine and it doesn't, just the one of the front left comes on?

It seems the more I look at the more I find wrong!!

If your fan isn't coming on then I'd check the thermostat and to see if the fan is even getting power/signal to turn on

The fan engine side should cut in first. Then the one bumper side for when its really hot and extra cooling required. So not only is it the aircon fan it's also a cooling fan

I will do some more investigation in the coming days but its defo not cutting in at all, just the aircon one

As lee said the second fan or ac fan will kick in to aid cooling, sure it's up at something like 95degrees when it finally comes on.

Cheers and as a fellow evoowner on here found out when using his car on a fairly warm day with traffic, just the one fan wasn't enough as it ran constant and temps were high.

how do you know thats the Engine rad fan isnt kicking in while your driving, as you wouldnt be able to tell, due to noise and the fact that you cant see it,

if your car dosent overheat then id presume that the engine fan is working as it should do,

Stock rad fan is noisy lol
If he has left the car running after driving the fan should kick in at about 90degrees. Quote me of that is wrong temp bit either way it will come on and you will hear it no trouble if the car is stationary

Really ?! I've ripped my aircon out but left the fan in and think mines set to kick in at 96 degrees. The other one which is now a slimline is set to 92

Don't need air con for the fan to work.. as said about it works as a secondary rad fan so kicks in at a set temp

I've always thought my engine run hot but the temp gauage has never risen above the norm.

Not taken it on the road as it SORN but this test was just done running the engine in the garage and doing a few visual inspections.

As said the aircon fan came on to aid cooling but the main fan didnt. If the AC fan is used for secondary cooling then my main one isnt working I guess.

Will do a few basic electrical tests at some point but the fan isnt seized as spins freely by hand so guess I need to check current in the module, relays, fuses etc..

:wtf: no air con left in my 8 I took it out and it still works

Stock gauge is cr*p.. I have that blitz unit that pick up stock sensors from the diagnostic port and it shows the water temp. Want to fit a cooler thermostat as under boost temps rocket.

Just go aftermarket on the fan mate, nice slimline fan set to a lower temp, job done
