Converting to FWD?

Afternoon all,

A bit new to all this, but have been pointed in this direction so hoping someone can assist a little...

I have a Tommi Mak engine gearbox etc etc that I wish to put in a kit car, but before it goes in I want to convert it to FWD only. I have been told that I should be able to remove a few items that transfer power to the rear, put a plate over said hole/s created and job done, but what are these bits? and will I end up having a ltd slip 2 wheel drive car? or will this be disabled when components are removed? and can I retain / restore the LSD with additional components?

I have trawled the internet looking for answers but can't find anything concrete, only investigation threads or RWD conversions! If anybody does know of the answers elsewhere I'm happy to follow links to save repetition.

don't no if you're tryed this or im being thick! Lol but maybe try and find blue print's or drawing's of the diff with an inside view both plan and side view? I mean see what goes in what goes out. What does what! Then working out how the lsd work's then making sure none of the bits you remove are needed for the lsd to work. O sound's well easy lol.

I did try a little search but nothing appropriate or detailed enough came up :sad:. If I had the engine / box etc nearby i'd just strip it apart and investigate, but its currently still in the TME and will be for a few months yet.

Sorry to resurect an old thread, but I too spent ages searching for a way to convert EVO IV onwards boxes to FWD, in the end made a kit to do it.

The conversion includes a transfer blanking plate, new bearings and quaife LSD, this all then mates up to standard EVO internals, or in my case Im running a PPG Drag Dog box rated at 1000bhp
