Coilovers Evo 8

Yes its another thread on coilovers!! lol. On the hunt for my E8

Just too many to chose from. The ones within my price range are;

D2 Racing
BC BR
XYZ Super Sports
HSD HR

I've heard the BC rear shock start to knock early on in there life so at the minute im tempted by the HSD's or the D2's purely as I know nothing about the XYZ's.

Any experience with the above? Good or bad

I bought a set for my ep3 and top mount went after 3 months. rose joint wore out! they must be hit and miss so

Have you looked at GAZ coilovers and are within your budget, these get hand made for you to the spec you want them and similar to BC but GAZ have better spec for your money.

Yeah I've looked, they just cheap if you know what I mean, the shock body and quality look abit pants. You had experience with them?

Have used GAZ coilovers in my E6 before and had not issues with them for the 16 months i had them fitted. I like the adjustment range on them for ride height and also for damper. They were sent back to GAZ for a service after 9 months but this was just for piece of mind and they are as good as the TEIN coilovers i had in my E5 but basically you get what you pay for. Ohlins are the best in my opinion but carry the price tag to match.
BC coilovers i have never used as i did not like how they looked although i do know many people with them fitted to their evo's and they no complaints for the money they paid for them.

I forgot GAZ only make these for E1-6. Sorry. For the budget you have for coilovers BC and D2 have proven records but for a little extra money you would get TEIN. However do not always go by brand name as the spec will not be much different or even a lower spec on the TEIN coilovers then the BC or D2 for less money.

I've got Bc coilovers. No complaints after I upgraded the rear top mounts for the revised ones which use a rubber top mount.
Oh and I upgraded the springs for track use to 10k front and 8k rear but I wouuldnt do this for a road car as its very hard. But I live with it

Nothing wrong with bc's and the knock is nothing to worry about.. Not really bothered by it, think I may go for some heavier springs in the future like Lee is running.

very hard on the road mate and it skips around alot too. not much fun when doing the south wales regional run up through the mountains :meh:

Can imagine its a bumpy ride.. The stock springs plus extra preload make it rough. Haha now they have been out in places doing some re surfacing so it's not all like a gravel rally stage anymore :razz: still come winter and the ice will be more pot holes lol...

Nice mate, just remember to cover them in cooper grease when you fit or they will seized solid and you won't be able to adjust them lol

Going to hopefully get some waterproof shock socks made up by a family member to put over them to keep all the crap and weather out. probably grease them up aswell tho

shock socks are a good idea mate, will keep them clean, but make sure they cover all the way down to just about he mounts as dirt seems to get everywhere dont want to get seized shocks they are a nightmare to losen off!
