code 23 cam sensor

my 4 has started missing under hard acceleration and chucking out code 23. this is the cam position sensor, before i order a knew one, is there any evo specific problem other then a duff sensor that could throw up this fault? timing seems dead on. sorry i'm being a pest asking so many questions! cars new to me, and i think a few things have been left to slide by the previous owner as seems to be one fault after another just now!


have removed and cleaned it, still the same.

The sensor gets to hot and degrades. You'd be good to get a small heat shield for it. Apart from that I'd stick with changing it

cheers for that, sensor tests ok with a meter, but scoping the signal it gets ragged at higher revs, got a new one ordered, 60 buck, so not too bad. i'll get the dam thing to take full throttle yet!
