clutch problems

i have just fitted fast road/racing clutch to my 1996 evo 4 gsr. trouble is now i have a servere judder on pull away and when changing gear either up or down the box.also at low revs it seems to slip.there is a strong smell of melting clutch which suggests clutch is dragging. i expected some slight judder on pull away being performance clutch but this shakes whole car.pedal and gear change is perfect apart from this.any help would be gratefully recieved

The Fast Road Clutches are crap buddy.

I would not be surprised if you found that it has already begun to shred/fall apart when you remove it.

They are not worth a penny and nine times out of ten, they have been very badly refurbished.

Thanls El For Your Reply.i Am Pulling Whats Left Of My Hair Out.the Clutch Is A Genuine Excedy Product. Not From Any Mail Order Site But Direct From Manufacturer. I Suspect Problems With Flywheel As I Did Not Replace This!! Or Maybe A Faulty Release Bearing. Have You Any Surrgestions Which Clutch Would Be Better Or Should I Go Back To A Std One.

MMMM this is an interesting post for me .

My IX suffers a very slight judder on pull away and is on standard clutch, ive been told this common in evos but what would folks recommend to cure it?

Ive thought of a new standard clutch but if im doing I may aswell upgrade to something more beefy sorry to hijack .

I know one of the exedy clutches is to be avoided can't remember which one though. Either the paddle or organic

A good choice is a Evo 8/9 clutch and flywheel cos they have a greater contact area so can handle 400ft lb of torque no problem.

Lee im on standard gear but still get judder, do you think it time for a new one ??

If it's hydration then I'd say it's got to hot at some point and so the only way to cure it is to change it but I'd get ants opinion first next time your there

If it is a genuine Exedy item the it is warranted so I would look at getting it exchanged for another unit.

The Organics are OK but if you are planning on going for more power later on, I suggest that you buy a Helix and be done with it buddy.

i have evo 5 and want to put a new clutch in.it standard at the mow but haveing it remaped when have the clutch in was going to have stage 1 clutch but don t no which one can anyboby help which clutches are good and were can i get it from best prices thanks

It's the organic ones you should avoid like the plague
