Your clutch is on the way out and I would not be surprised if your pressure plate is scorched.

It might last a while longer if driven normally making gear changes as smoothly as possible and below 3500 revs. You will start to notice that the fuel economy is on the way out too, not that is was great in the first place:rolleyes:

Where about in the country are you buddy???

Hi Mel,
Unfortunately Heavy duty and £159 brand new do not sit too well when it comes to Evo's. The standard clutch is around £220. The one you are on about is no doubt inferior or reconditioned. Either way, it will rip to shreds way before it is bedded in which takes around 400 miles.

I will look into it for you and get back to you tomorrow at some point.

Luckily for you, I am in the midlands too!!!

If it's going that cheap it WILL let you down!!!!

A friend had bought one at that sort of price last year and he only got 18 miles out of it. He is still waiting for the clowns to refund his money. He woke up and smelt the coffee a couple of days later and put it down to personal experience.

Fast road reds and these fake heavy duty ones are not recommended by me at all. The only heavy duty thing about those is the head ache they give you once they are in. To change a clutch on an Evo is not cheap by any measure. Always best to go for a reliable clutch.

Speak to you on this one tomorrow.

I have an evo 4, had the clutch replaced about 8 months (£300 for fitting) ago for a standard one from Camskill.co.uk (£220 delivered). Done about 5k on it so far but the biting point had slowly moved up! Asked around and its a false econmy buying cheap clutches! best off spending £500 on clutch alone!

hi El
i've been looking around and found a company that will travel to me and supply and fit a clutch they are called performance clutch uk they will supply and fit a genuine mitsubishi oem for 610 or a exedy clutch kit for 620 what do you think plus they also recommend a refaced flywheel which is 55 a straight swap.
thanks

That price might be kind of OK but skimming a Fly Wheel when there is nothing wrong with one is just a waste of money, unless they give you a lightened and balanced one which I very much doubt as they cost much, much, more. The difference between a standard clutch and an Exedy is not £10 so I am a little dubious about that one too Mel.

Most times, when we order clutches and ask for Standard, our supplier turns up within 20 minutes max and it is Exedy 9 times out of 10!!!
If it say's Blue Print on the box it also has Exedy on the box too.
If it says Sachs on the box then there is an Exedy clutch kit in the box.
Exedy are a very big outfit that have access to the Patent rights for mItsubishi Clutches and supply all the big Groups.

I ordered a Standard clutch for a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior (diesel Pick Up truck) a couple of days ago and guess what arrived around 15 minutes later???...........Exedy!!!!

What these guys have told you is just a ploy to get money palmed over, as much of it as possible!!!

Did you find these guys on ebay when you were looking for a clutch????

You have a PM any way Mel. You have more then one option available.

Keep me posted please.

Ye id def not scrimp wen it comes to a clutch, ebay is very good for somethings but not all things,a lot of stuff on my car is an ebay purchase but I wouldn't risk it with a clutch.I did a little digging on this when I first bought mine, the guy I go to with all my problems quoted me 600quid for a heavy duty clutch, aparently the standard ones are around 440,I trust him as he knows wot he's doin and I've used him that long I no he wouldn't screw me,I'm sure el can point u in the right direction but any probs and ill have a word wi my guy too.
