Clutch gone... Pedal on floor

hi guys hopefully this will have a simpe answer. Went up the park earlier and as i went to drive home i felt the clutch go very light once (its fitted with an uprated clutch and its heavy so there is no mistaking that it went light) so i pressed it again and it felt light, thought to myself 'this is weird' pressed it again and the pedal had no resistance whatsoever and the pedaljust went straight to the floor and didnt return and it just sits on the floor now. And will only come up if you pull it up. Ive done a search and most threads leads me to think its master/slave cylinder related, a leak and ive lost bleed, or release bearing. I dont think its the latter as when you move the pedal there is no movement in the clutch arm at all and no resistance whatsoever and there are no funny mechanical noises. So what do you guys think?? Obviously the fluid level is where it should be and i had a quick nose and couldnt see any blatant leaks. The cars now at my moms until i get it sorted cos i broke down near hers.... Going to back up my moms tomorrow to try and diagnose it fully and get whatever i need ordering ordered... But in the worst case, if it was the release bearing wouldnt the arm off the slave cylinder still be moving when i move the pedal? I hope its a simple leak from a cylinder or pipe etc... Fingers crossed!

Sounds like your master cyclinder or slave cyclinder is at fault if your level is ok, my money would be on master cyclinder it's the more prone to failure

Thanks mate, i was worried it may have been the release bearing issue that ive read about. Going to inspect it tomorrow have a good look for any signs of leaks ill post what i find. As for fitting and bleadingis it just the same as leeding a caliper?... Pump and bleed until all air is expelled then lock the nipple with the pedal fully down. Many thanks.

Check the slave, that's what happened to mine, suffered with exactly the same symptoms.

Hi all, had a quick look yesterday and as said above... i removed the dust cover off the slave and when my mate pumped the pedal it just oozed out black gunk lol... New slave on the way, hopefully here for the weekend fingers crossed. But ive also read that geting these bled and working right can be a nightmare job,im sure im capeable though :/ haha ill let you guys know how I get on!

The most gutting thing was about it, it was the first time i'd met my bro since having the evo, he was in his sapphire cosworth and i really wanted to give him a good pasting after leaving the park and blast down the lanes but the bloody thing failed just as i approached the park gate hahaha got some good pics while we were there though.

cosworth VS evo - take two.... hopefully this weekend lol.

It's not too difficult to bleed but I found that the fluid in the res needed to be constantly topped up, if it dropped even a little bit air would get in the system and had to start again!
Yep mine went when I had my mate in the car for the first time! ha
