Cleaning lash adjusters

Would you guys recommend doin this myself I have little mechanical experience but keen to learn is there anything I can f£&k up??

Or should I just pay a mechanic to do it?

I seen that in the guide alright I will be on my own time is not an issue just wondering if anyone has done them before.

No prob. Good luck. Best thing to remember is take your time. I usually take ages on doing something like this. Get ripped pi** out of for taking so long but I'd prefer to do it right than mess up. Let us know how you get on

Get a PROPER lash adjuster tool! I got mine from eBay, still not got round to doing my own, but a mate was struggling to get them back in with a pry bar, so borrowed my tool and got them in no bother.

You will get them out no bother with a pry bar, but getting them back in is not so easy. Also, to save having to rock the car to rotate the engine, get the front just off the ground on axle stands and take off the front drivers side wheel, you will see a hole in the wheel arch liner that has the crank pully right behind it, via this hole you can use a ratchet and a long extention bar to crank the engine over, obviously make sure it's not in gear when doing so.

Just had a look on eBay for you and can't find any, there is a template to make your own somewhere over the road, and I might have it on my home PC, but at work just now.

Just need to cut it out of 2-3mm steel, mine looks like it has been cut on a flow jet or something, very smooth & precise.

Just found this one on ebay mate for ya, same as the one i used to do me mates tappets on his evo 4, cants really do any damage with these not like a pry bar lol

Can be a long old job this - we did this on my old engine with a pri bar. After a few we did get use to removing them.
There is another way a simple oil change can some time sort any issues with tappy lifters.
