Hi all,

my car is a Mitsubishi Lancer VII Wagon 1.6 (4G18 engine),build year 2007. It is registered as Euro4.It has rolled somewhere 225k km's.

After multiple misfire error episodes I finally understood the problem: rust in tank, clogging up fuel system. After changing filter, pump and injectors it works again.
In the last episode it had to drive on with an misfire engine code and fueltrims +25%.
After that 2nd lambda sensor is very jumpy and goes to almost zero when warm so I expect my cat is finished. Exhaust smells very hot (Don't have a IR measurement tool).

My question: the specified cat's (1st and 2nd) are both Euro3. Could it be that Misubishi was able to get Euro4 emission values with a combination of Euro3 converters with motormanagemeent? Might have been their objective as Euro 4 was introduced during the building period of the Lancer (and especially the Wagon version?)
Has anyone here succeded in obtained euro4 with euro3 converters?

Other options:
1. replace the converter core with an Euro4 one.
2. replace with a used one (though mostly available from cars with over 200k km's, so not very helpfull)
Anyone experience with that?

Thanks, Pamela
