Cat D

Ive been looking to buy an evo 8 for over 2 months now and every now and then whilst browsing I've came across a few "what seem to appear " clean examples of an evo 8.
The only thing is there listed as CAT D!
Should I let this put me off or has anyone ever bought a CAT D before?

Do a little google search on what cat D is.

Pretty sure it's only light damage and then been repaired.

So you'll want to be checking out the repaired area, making sure the panel gaps are good, paint matches, and it was a quality repair.

They will be cheaper because of the cat D status

But it will also effect your own resale of the car

Pros and cons, it's which way it favours you and the budget I suppose.

My old evo 6 was a cat d I don't know why (it was cat d)it was straight rot free and went like
Stink best car I've ever had
So it's not always a bad thing until you come to sell it had trouble moving her on
But thanks to people on here (Simon@nts) for recommending it I was able to sell
It's ironic that I tried to buy the car back and they wouldnt sell it!!!

As others have said, lots of info on cat d if you search, but if you find a car at a dealer and find out the car is a cat d via hpi rather than them telling you then walk away, as they're breaking the law and the chances of them sorting out any other issues you might have are approximately zero.

Personally, I would have no issues buying a Cat D as long as they could show what work had been carried out on it and it had been done to a good standard.
