Camshaft question

Will the camshafts from an VIII part numbers

MD376211 ( inlet )
MD376213 ( exhaust )

Fit in my IV and is it worth while changing to these cams over my stock ones

Yes they will fit but not worth it. Only 8 MR cams give a performance increase or aftermarket cams like kelford, hks, bc, etc

That's why i tend to ask beforehand if it was a scooby,Rover T16 turbo, etc i would be fine but im new to Evo's and would sooner ask and learn appose to wasting my money on things that make no difference

i did sort of knew mate after speaking to cossie 1,now i no for sure. but i knew they were newer less wear etc. and like said wanted all part's from an 8.

Its a case of me learning about them now im a qualified mechanic so wont be to bad an engine is an engine to work on but as you will know every car has its own things and weaknesses.

If it was a scooby engine i would be sorted as to what mods are worth doing as use to build a lot of them at one point for people not that they are not reliable or anything :whistling: but they as most know suffer with bottom end failure.

mate if you can work on a scooby engine your find an evo engine a walk in the park! Every thing is where it should be lol but i under stand you wanting to no about spec's etc.

To be honest i find the scooby engine an easy one to work on when on a stand. My last car was a pulsar GTi-R you want to try working on one of them enough to mentally break someone lol. After looking round the evo engine bay its a nice simple unit to work on and i would compare it to a normal twin cam.

They see a comfortable 450/450 ish you can push them a bit harder but to be honest 450 bhp and the same in torque in a road car is more then enough.

I have been looking about for cheap V or VI engine that needs a rebuild can have a good poke about with the evo engine then and may even put an engine together for my IV

Head work been done is :
130 thou removed from face
New cam bearings
Kent GTS2 cam
New rockers
All new valve seats
New valve guids
All valves machined into seats at same depth so when setting clearances all rockers even
3 angled valve seats
New valve stem oil seals
New kent cams vernier
New K&N filter

Carb:
32/36 DGAV
Re jetted
Larger Venturi's
Choke's removed
Power valve blocked



Bottom end 205 Block:
10 thou decked
Mahle pstons
STD crank not been ground
Has been stripped and checked all new gaskets fitted
New water pump
New Cambelt
Dizzy been done NO vac advance
New Coil / dizzy cap / Rotor Arm

lol lot's of room in that bay. Would love to get an engine to work on or work on mine. Just haven't got any were to do it! If all goes wrong can just box it up and sent to a pro. Lol your be fine tho mate as it looks like you no what your doing! Were's as me not quite sure lol

I prefer to do things myself that way you know its done correctly and you can pay attention to detail. Its like when i use to rebuild the PG1 gearboxes for the rover owners club the other half came home to me doing it on the kitchen worktop lol i shall not repeat her words but had no room in the shed left

Oh good I have an engine here ready to replace my 4 engine but it needs putting together then dropping in .....
