Buying property at auction

Anyone ever bought at auction? There is a nice house I want which is going to auction soon and I'm scrabbling around to get everything in place and getting nervouse already. So any tips?
It's much easier to just buy direct from vendors...

Look at the place before you bid on it, don't ever blind buy, get a surveyor to have a once over too, if it's cheap then it's cheap for a reason
