Hi,
I appreciate this post is going to annoy some people as some of the questions have probably been ask before and others will provoke the reaction you want to do what, so apologies in advance.
I need to change my daily driver MK1 MR2 in about 12 months,( I like to do my homework first) the car is great but it’s hard keeping on top of the rust. Was thinking of an MG TF but as I want this to be the last car I buy, but I am building a 2 seater kit car another 2 seater seemed a bit selfish.
Main question, my budget will be around £6000 max which as I understand will cover an EVO 4 5 and possibly a 6. What are the different models, differences in the models including running costs, and I seem to remember top gear suggesting you should go for the middle horsepower model.
I have seen a few newly imported cars on dealer web sites. They are always described as immaculate, but the engine bays always seem dirty / rusty items as though they have been standing for a while. Is this anything to be worried about.
The car will be doing around 3000 miles a year, be used about once a week to go to work, more in winter, as I cycle the rest of the time, the journey is 10 miles one way is this too short for this type of car.
In around 10 years (I intend keeping it for a long time) the car will likely be our only car but my wife is a very careful timid relucant driver who potters around, on the few occasions can you do this in an EVO.
I will need to do a couple of journeys with a car trailer can you fit a tow bar to EVO’s
