hi all im new to the world of evo's. ive always been bought up around fords. since selling my track car an having twins, ive now been told im allowed another toy :D happy days!! basically i was looking at evo 4's to get me going then get used to it and maybe go for a 5 or 6. but this morning i've been reading about crankwalk. should i buy a 4 or just get a 5. the only evo ive been in is a mates 6 and i can say it scared my pants off. i dont have alot of time to fix problems involving taking the car to bits what with the kids and all so was looking for an un molested/pretty standard one (hopefully more relaible). any help would be greatly appreciated. oh one last thing has anyone lpg converted one of these as i can get it done for cost or is there no boot space for a tank?

5 or newer should have no issues with crankwalk
A well looked after 4 will have no issues either
Std or modified version will still have same issues as the 4 is 14 yrs old ...
5/6 evo will be able to run similar power as what you've been in.
4 is good for 320-330 bhp
5/6 is good for 350-360 bhp
Lpg conversion has been done but it's rare

Hi & welcome.

E5-8 is the same engine and will run the same power unless its an RS, TME or MR.
I have had 420 BHP from an E6 which is basically an E5 with a different front bumper and rear spoiler using standard block, standard turbo but uprated actuator, head has been modified and tweaked but still using standard valves but with E9 valve springs/retainers and 264 cams.
Stay away from an E4 as even if its serviced regularly the main and small end bearings will always go at some point and this is why Mitsubishi revised the 4g63 block and launched the new 4g63 block with the E5 that remained the same even to the E9. Later versions do have better oil pick up feed but is still the same block. The E5/6 is a perfect first evo for a reasonable spending budget and your first evo.

:awesome::DHi and welcome.

You could get a 4 with a later engine fitted (no crankwalk issues) :) Or you could get a 5/6.

Lpg has been done on a few evos. Was a 9 local to me a couple of years ago. If a decent system is fitted with the bigger injectors and bigger vapouriser, you should be alright. V-power 99 RON, Tesco Momentum 99 RON, Lpg can get upto 108 RON

You can get different size lpg tanks. One is the spare wheel donut type and other is cylinder type

lmao, you should of seen the the E5 and the E6 me and Terry went to see in Bradford. E5 was 2 different colours of white, rust, blow by on engine, rear shocks were going, dent in boot lid and the E6 was damaged and badly fixed on the rear, less than min oil in the engine and rough.... Some people dont deserve to own a bicycle never mind an evo.

Welcome along, I run a 4 but that engine gave up so plumped for a 6 lump to replace it, good luck in your search.
