did the last pads have the brake shims? and when i brought a set of EBC Greenstuff for my ERST i had to cut and fit the shims myself, have you fit them to? they are the black felt/rubber sheets incase you didnt know.

the old pads i have taken out had some metal one witch look like shims but the new pads came with a rubber bit stuck on the back of the pad witch i left on and didnt put the metal ones back in i am assuming that they are shims for the new pad. the previous owner said he has changed the pads a few times because of the problem but only put cheep ones in so i though it would fix the problem if i had deacent ones in but it hasent could it be the disks that need replacing

How old do the discs look?
I.E is there a lip on the outside of the disc going all the way round where the pads dont touch the disc, if its quite a big lip then change the discs.

Good replies all round!!!

I suggest the first thing you do is check the disks as advised but suspect that they may be ok as the problem occurs on braking and then last for a small duration of time afterwards so if there is no judder on braking the disks need to be ruled out.

The only conclusion is that maybe one or both front callipers are binding. You will need to take the callipers off (do not disconnect the brake lines),remove the pads and use brake cleaner inside the rubber seals of the pistons (use a flat scooby to hold the rubber back whilst doing this and then check for surface rust build up or other foreign bodies such as dust, brake dust etc.
Lightly sand off or wire brush and then use copper grease or a really good lube like wurth and then force the pistons back and then press the brake and force the pistons back a couple of times. You will notice that the more times you do this, the easier it gets.

Should do the job just fine.

Let us know how you get on please.
