brake caliper sticking

I think the front brake caliper are probably sticking as the braking power isn't very good recently. hell of a pressure on the pedal and still not stopping very quickly. New disc and pads
Is it something you could do yourself or a visit to the garage. I'm not too confident when it comes to working on EVO's.
I know the piston do have the tendency to sieze, considering it's 11 yrs old

How do you check whether they're siezed or not? and will it be costly

is it pulling to one side when you are hard on the brakes? - yes one of the side might be seized

is the pedal soft and travel down alot when you brake? could explain braking force, try bleeding it.

it is quite simple to check the pistons...take the caliper off and push the pistons back...
put some wood or something to wedge 3 of the pistons and get someone to pump the pedal to make 1 piston come out.

you can free it off if they look like its sticking

lol i had a notice mail as soon as i submitted, lol thought it noticed myself..

car not pulling to one side, and pedal not travel to the floor either. bleed the system, seemed better but as good as it had a month ago when pads were new. wonder the pads are to blame?? Red Stuff for normal road use, never tracked nor raced. Nver really noticed as I don't normally brake hard, but this one day I had to when the idiot in front decided to stop dead for no apparent reason. Thought I was going to plough into him as I couldn't feel the stopping power- another word emergency braking will not stop the car quickly enough

have you bedded your pads and disc in properly?

saying that, I did about 800 miles no hard braking at all. As I have said, never noticed it until I needed it most as mentioned above.

I have noticed the offside disc, outside is not glazed even after a motorway run. Surface rust still showing on the disc. does that mean piston is siezed from the ouside

i reckon go for a bed in session, and check your discs for wear and see if it is even on both sides.

I have had before one side of the caliper 2 of the pistons were slightly stucked.

so yeah just free them up one by one if need to be.

Can you simply free them up or would you need a seal kit which itself £100 per side
