hey guys, im running the engine in on my evo 4 after rebuild (see my other thread) at the mo its only running actuator pressure ie the pipe on the bottom of the turbo is looped back to the actuator, its only at 7-8 p.s.i just thinking to myself once the engine is run in I would like to turn up the boost a little, ive owned 5 Nissan 200sx's and on those if you use a bleed valve you can go to 12p.s.i before you hit fuel cut problems,
is there a similar deal with the evo 4 ? I have a spare bren device bleed valve in the house, could I plumb that in?
what is the boost limit before you hit a fuel cut?

thanks again everyone!
luke!

Boost limit on the actuator is 11-12 psi

I'd also be running it in on that pressure.

cheers!

maybe its just my old electric Mitsubishi boost guage then!
its in bar and at most it goes to a teeny bit over 0.5
that should be 7 to 8 psi right?!
I wonder if its accurate? ................!!!

Did you not say the previous mechanic had modified the actuator?
In bar should be around 0.7-0.8
If you can plumb in another gauge to try and test it!!
Or the actuator isn't fitted right or faulty

yes!

yeah fq performance did all the work! and I think I will plumb a better boost guage in!!

FQ are now optimum performance...
In Buckinghamshire

Where are you located?!

sorry rsv rob, I cant get to a computer very often, yes fq are now optimum performance, I talked to them on Friday, they know my car well as one of their mechanics used to own it! apparently all the evo 9 bits in the engine were bits they had lying around!!

the guage!

here is a pic of the strange electric guage I have, it does seem to give random readings unless you completely floor the car,
also can anyone tell me the warning light on the dash, the last owner said its cos of the de-cat pipe, but when I looked under the car there is no loose sensor near the de cat pipe so how does the car know? I think it might be faulty lambda sensor in the down pipe shortly after the turbo ?.......

Yes it's a cat overheat sensor. You just gotta connect both wires together. They may be loose but out if view.
I don't mind taking a look over it all if your not far?!
So your saying they told you not to go over 4k rpm while running it in?!

cool!

thanks rsv man! that's a great offer but sadly im in cornwall, right in the tail of the country!!
to be honest the mechanic I bought the car off said not to go over 4k because despite all the work that fq performance did the guy I bought it off said he got it cheap with bottom end knock then he got the crank checked and balanced, fitted a.c.l bearings, new oil pump and cambelt and bolted it back together, now the engine is smooth and sounds spot on but it has only done 400 miles on that big end job! the rest of the re built motor is on 2000 miles, I have all the bills, its full of evo 9 parts, has balancer shaft delete and has only run low actuator boost since the first re build!
