boost controller and wideband a/f ratio

Hello .
I have an evo 4 everything stock and after changing my wastgate is runs on 0.6 boost . Now I wanna install a boost controller to run it not more than 0.9 bar cause they are sayin ot is the stock boost for evo's . Right ? But everywhere that I read the are saying to install a a/f guage first so you wont damage your engine . I was wondering is it necessary for 0.3 bar to install a/f wideband

If you are installing a boost controller on any turbo charged vehicle to be able to get back upto stock boost say after a removing standard boost solinoid or actuator change then there is no need to fit a wideband as the ECU will already be calibrated for that boost level. However if you are wanting to take it over stock boost level then an AFR gauge is needed if you want to check things but generally if you taking it above stock boost on a 4 you will be changing the ECU so you can have it calibrated to put the extra fuel in to stop it running lean and the person mapping it will have the AFR ect on rollers and you will get vehicle back all sorted.
