Can we get the 'thing' removed that blocks links from the M L R?

There is some good info and how to links that would be a benefit to evoowners members.

cant see a logical reason why you want to block the links?

:)

opinions?

Its a difficult one. On one hand it is advertising the competition (you wouldnt ask Morrisons to link to Tesco). Its a quick way to loose a visitor and potential member, it sends the search engines off to their sites and generally isnt a good idea. In the past competing forums (not MLR i hasten to add) have come on and take every opportunity to link to their forum.
That is why it is a rule on every forum I am involved with to not link to the competition.

On the other hand I do understand the benefits of material on other forums and have no problem with people talking about them and in limited circumstances linking to specific information. In that situation I recommend using bit.ly to link to the specific post.

So as a blanket statement, ask members to not link to the competition, it is in the rules to not link but I do turn a blind eye to it where it is in the members benefit.

Hope that keeps everyone happy.

understand where your coming from Nick,

I think 99.9% of people on here know about the other site but dont want to use their site for whatever reason, so I cant see this site losing traffic to them (other way round would be a different matter though I think)

it would just make things easier, as before I put up a link to help a member on here out and it took me a while to get across the info he needed (type - preview post, retype - preview post again etc.

If I was busy then I probably wouldn't have even bothered - rather than copy link.....paste link.....job done.
