I have yet to see any faliures we sell and fit loads and dont seem to have a problem with them.

That is quite right.

I have only ever seen one Exedy Clutch fail within 100 miles and that was because the customer had launch control etc. and started blitzing cars at the lights almost immediately after leaving the Garage.

Needless to say that he learned his lesson as once we removed the item it was shredded and he owned up to having given it a hard time from the get go rather than trying to allow it to bed in gently.

He now has a Helix Clutch fitted which I bedded in for him myself to ensure that it was done correctly.

I have not come across any negative feedback or reviews regarding the Exedy Clutches but suspect that they may not be lasting long perhaps because they are egay items, in which case, they usually tend to be unauthorised or reconditioned units.

What you have to understand is that Exedy manufacture capable Clutches that are up to the task over a range of horse power so you need to buy according to your specific needs.

Your right about eBay a lot of people on there sell standard Exedy clutches as uprated items.

That is no doubt the reason as to why Exedy seem to be getting negative feedback.

Authorised retailers never boast those kind of figures and the prices that they are available for on egay would leave anyone with a little common sense wondering why they are so cheap but pricey everywhere else.

havent exedy been getn bad press of late with clutch failure after little miles,,

so wouldnt recommend those,,

im in the same boat as you pal,, waitn on a new clutch myself,, im going for a 7/8/9 stage 2 competition clutch and flywheel,,

i had a stage 1 exedy clutch running around 300 bhp and it lasted all of 6 months before it started to go. just had a helix 6 paddle put in and its so much better!

I've get a exedy stage one got it 2nd hand part worn been in for 7 .8 month still fine. No launch's tho. Would use one again. Running just under 300.
