Beta engine questions (evo4?)

Not got an Evo, got a Gen1 Hyundai Coupe (I know, expecting the abuse),which uses a mitsubishi engine, I know Hyundai refer to it as the Beta engine, assuming mitsubishi do the same.
Anyway I'm trying to find some of the grunt Hyundai managed to loose, at the moment I'm looking at one of two options, either use mitsubishi parts, or a complete engine swap. I'm 90% sure the Evo-4 engine is a version of the beta block, what other Mitsubishis use versions of that engine?

iv got a evo 4 and the engines are not that strong, i blew mine up. not sure about the high and drys but im putting a evo 5 engine mine, i wondering if you could do the same. with the evo 4 you can put a 5,6 or 7 engine straight in.

You will lose out putting an Evo engine into a Coupe. With it being a Gen 1, you have the standard mitsubishi beta block which comes in the Space Runner, Space Wagon and other such cars. It might look like the Evo engine but it is not. There are many problems you will face such as mounting brackets, wiring looms, ECU compatibility with clusters etc.

You are better off selling your Coupe and buying an Evo.

The only non Mitsubishi vehicle that can take the engine and running gear with minimal effort is the Proton Compact. If you are looking for a project, there is much satisfaction to be had with that.

Is it not a beta block in the Evos then?
Theres a couple people in the coupe owners clubs that have fitted evo turbos direct to a coupe engine (1 gen1, 1 gen2),but have lost 60bhp somewhere compared to evo engines.
Is there anything that will fit direct to the beta block? Throttle bodies/inlet manifold for example? What size is the bore on an evo?

I've done a bit of work to the engine, spent alot of blood,swaet, tears and money on it over the past 18 months, so want to complete this project, so new car not an option.
At the moment its had everything that can be done to a NA block, without opening the block up and machining, or the inlet manifold. Aftermarket ones are a lot of money for what small gains you'll get, however if I could fit a bigger bore one from another car, then I could get one at a scrapyard for a fraction of that price. (knowing what to look for has so far got me a close ratio box and highlift cams for £36!)

And do you know what the inlet manifold bore size is?

Your best bet will be to give us the engine code and I am sure we will transform into an Encyclopaedia Britannica!!!

i know so one that has put a evo lump in a fto but it was a pain the arse but when it was done it was pretty fast but front wheel drive need i say more!!
