Best Evo for £4k ? -ish

Hi guys.

Newbie here, I have just signed up to this site in hope for some info on the purchase of an Evo.

I did have an evo before about 6 years ago, it was an Evo II, I didn't have it long because the neighbours kid decided he liked to throw rocks at it dinting the roof and wings (police didnt want to know) and at the same time it developed crank walk I think it was called ? clutch would go limp, so I got shot before my neighbours destroyed it

Anyway I find myself in a position to get myself a toy and I have a max budget of 5k but that has to include insurance too.

I'm 37, and don't have any useable no-claims, even though I been driving past 6 years on my partners motability policy they dont count because I am just a named driver so am starting with zero no claims.

So that being said, 5k to spend heres my questions please

1) What kind of Evo should I be looking at ? 3, 4, 5 .. 6 ?

2) What kinda damage am I looking at insurance wise ? and any tips on who to try please for a quote ?

3) What kinda MPG are you guys getting nowadays

I think you be looking at Evo 4 for your budget

Try PaceWard they pretty good on performance cars and that's who I am with. They are flexible on modifications too. Setting a grand aside is reasonable...I'm paying about 750 a year fullycomp through them for an Evo IX and Golf GTI combined multi-car policy

3) What kinda MPG are you guys getting nowadays
You know the answer to that! Depends on how you drive it. I think norm is around 20 mpg with conservative head on - could be wrong? However, your the first person i've seen buying an Evo based on MPG! hehe

In short, owning an Evo isn't cheap!

For your budget you should get a decent 4. You might get a slightly root 5 tho.

If you drive like a granny you'll get 20-25mpg but who buys an Evo do do that other than Geof?

Insurance should be below a grand for your age etc. I got a quote with no years ncb, as someone was on about it, on my e6 tme and it came out at about 750.
