Sorry to hear that Steve.

Wouldnt even know where to begin mate?

Get picking up the phone mate. Here is some companies you could try :)

RIGZONE - Rigzone Sponsors

And there are loads more in there aswell mate

RIGZONE - Oil & Gas Directory - Companies

I'll also keep a listen out while I am on the rigs, see if anyone knows anything about job positions coming up :)

If they ask if you have your survival and medical, just tell them you are looking into getting it. Some may want you to have, some may pay for it for you, happy days. Just be persistent though, there will be shed loads of CVs on the desks of the recruiters, oh and ask to speak with the person responsible for recruiting directly.

As Wayne'o says, you will need a passport for working offshore now.

Before looking into course's or anything like that, have a good look through the jobs and narrow it down to what you think you could do (if you can), you don't want to be spending money on courses that you wouldn't need as they are far from cheap.

Just some advice/warning :) If you are offered a job, which seems to good to be true, it probably is. You shouldn't be needing to pay money out for visas etc if you have been offered a job.

few of those are good for a job mate, by ducting.. do you mean like steel air ducting for ventilation, air con etc?

if so there are a few companies that do that.... tyco mainly Tyco - a vital part of your world

easiest route is to start in drilling as a roustabout, its not ideal but gets your foot into the industry, its mostly working with cranes and cleaning and odd jobs here and there, but always an opportunity to progress,

i started doing that, went into rigging now work in production and work 2 weeks offshore 3 weeks at home

do you have and of you mechanical tickets?? might be able to go motorman, thats a good number i did that on drilling, think thats what rossy does

Take him to the cleaners Steve, he was an ass at the best of times!!!

Is it just me or do the rest of you also believe that we are being royally shafted by an inept Coalition that is running this Kingdom to the ground since they came into power???

They cut benefits for those that deserve them, raise taxes to a level above inflation without aligning incomes whilst pushing businesses under that could have clearly stayed afloat under other circumstances and then expect us to get on with paying bills and making ends meet God knows how...................Whilst they make exaggerated Mortgage Claims for houses that they don't even live in, not to mention doctored Rent and Rates Claims for their own Families!!!

As for the cost of Fuel..................They don't bat an eyelid as they claim it back from the expenses accounts!!!

I wonder who's taxes fill the Expenses Accounts for them????

Rant over.

Ah right ok. Stay focused on actual companies then mate, as they will train you. I mentioned paying for training incase you were thinking of looking into agency work, as these people like you to have some courses relating to working on the rigs.

If you are not bothered about starting at the bottom, just to get your foot in the door. Try Rowan companies, they do drilling etc and have their own rig fleet:
Rowan Companies - Home

I just got off a trip working with some of these guys and all they did to get the job was submit a CV, no interview, the call they got was for signing a contract and they all look about 12 years old lol.
Could be worth just picking up the phone tomorrow and giving them a shout, see whats what.

aright stevo yeah wayno is right getting into drilling is the best way to go to open doors our company is taken on at the mo but they will prob want you to have your tickets ect but no harm in trying here is there number 01224856000 its odfjell drilling.

that is the route i took i went roustabout and upto asst derrickman then got offered the mechanical motormans job as i have mechanical experiance and that is a good route to go as the next step from there is the rig mechanic and that equals some really good cash! i see matt has mentioned rowen they are actually taken on i would defo get on phone to them m8 my m8 just got a start and they paid for everything
