Stupid question to ask but when i turn on the ignition on my 5 i dont have any light that comes on for the AYC, only the oil light, ems light, hand brake and seat belt light come on. If mine isnt on im guessing that its intentional and it may have been removed for some reason. how do i check if my ayc is working? i have paperwork to say it was serviced just before i bought the car but i cant remember ever seeing the light come on or go off. Oh and i dont know how to check to see if there is a bulb in it either sorry.

There's probably some kind of fault my car was the same when I bought it I did notice this but I took a chance the ayc pump was gone in my case

Best bring it to an evo specialist IMO

AYC should come on with the other lights. If it doesn't then the bulb has blown or been removed

More than likely someone has removed the bulb. Just undo the screws an pull the instrument cluster out and take a look

It's most likely a removed bulb

hey guys some twat has removed the bulb so i swaped one and put it in and the worst has happened, the AYC light is flashing and im guessing its just same as ems reading
long flash = 10
short flash = 1
if this is the case then its reading faults 24, 26, and 82 no idea what these codes are but im guessing its busted big time. I have the worst things happen to me all the time with regards to this car so if anyone can break the bad news to me in regards to the codes please do. Thanks again for the help boys but i need a miracle i think and someone to help me rob a bank.....

i typed ayc faults into the search section and found exact same as what you sent but thanks for your help. its come up that its (24) rear left wheel speed sensor open or short circuit (26) Faulty wheel speed sensor assuming these are both linked to same fault and (82) pump malfunction or sensor failure. hoping not the worst

Im thinking I'll get my mechanic to pressure test the pump first and see what happens after that, don't want to sell anyone a half job car I'd rather it was done right for my own piece of mind. I've done the rest of the work the right way no point stepping off the plank now. If it is the switch that's faulty then I'll go with the switch, if not it's a recon job on the pump if it can be done. Thanks all for the help and I can't stress enough how good it is to be a member on here and have so many good guys with the vast amount of knowledge that this forum and everyone here has to offer. Got the pressure tested today and it's almost 14.5psi not sure what it's meant to be at think it's 16psi but could be wrong so maybe change the switch and see what happens then. Got the lash adjusters changed over as well for new ones and the same noise that was happening before (loud tapping) is still there but instead of being over the top of cylinder 2 it's now above cylinder 1 under the oil cap. Could this still happen if my new lash adjusters have not been bled properly? Oh and noise doesn't happen so low in the revs it's up to 1750 revs before it starts and still top end noise. Any ideas? Got me stumped again.
