AYC Question (Evo 5-6)

I've been readng the forums and it says I'd have to change the AYC fluids every 4.5k, I was wondering if a "normal" mechanic dude could do it or if it really needs to go to a dealer to do it. And the fluids, are they universal fluids or are they sold only from Mitsubishi?

Ok 've searched more deeply, ok so I need a dealer or mechanic that has the MUT11 tool...that won't be possible, especially in Dominican Republic...what are my options now?

It is possible to do it by yourself or a mechanic mate, don't know what the mut machine is but I have bled and replaced my fluids no prob , and others on here have done the whole system

Some people say if you jack the 4 wheels off the ground and bring the car up to 30-40 mph and bleed it like that,

I've never done it myself and I dont know if it works 100%

I always found it a bit dangerous So I've never tried it

What if I get the E5 RS? it has a mechanical diff instead and no ABS, and shorter gear for better accel (from what I've read on the net) everything I need to have fun...I will be buying the car from japan so I guess the RS isn't very rare?

They are rare enough,

You could get gsr and put the rear diff from a rs into into it and get rid of the ayc that way

Ayc bleed doesn't need doing that often.
Change the Ayc fluid in the diff is as simple as just drain and re fill. Do this every 9k

And also, what is that thing about turning off the pump?

There are two fluids. There is the hydraulic fluid that flows through the pipes and works the AYC plates, and there is also fluid for the clutch bath. The clutch bath fluid is fairly easy to change (this might be what they meant by "rear diff" ),it is the hydraulic fluid that needs the bleeding of the system.
