ayc oil leaking

advise needed please guys, had the ayc light come on the other day for an hour or so and noticed the back end has started to handle pants and feels very unsafe.
was out in the car yesterday and started getting a stink in the car like melting tarmac and thought nothing of it to start with, but when i got home i noticed ayc fluid all over the back of the car.
jacked it up and theres oil everywhere but looks to be coming from the top of the diff.
is there any common faults that this could be or is it an out and check job?

youll need to have a look really as it could just be a split pipe, worse case is diff failure.

the weird bit about it is all that oil but the res is still on the max.

In that case, diff failure I'm afraid.

There are 2 lots of fluid.
1 in the bottle that feeds the pump which operates the clutches.
The other is the resivour the clutches sit in. That's where your fluid has come from. You should find a hole in the casing

I have a good diff for sale too

right folks, diff is off and no holes or cracks found and it looks like the fluid came out the breather.
now what i need to know is it knackered or is it the pump.
symptoms were oil all over the back of the car, resevoir still full and shockingly bad handling, even in a straight line it felt iffy.
read a post about the pump running flat out and forcing a seal out some where and pressurising the ayc and blowing fluid out.
if thats the fault then is the diff shot it and the pump or can the seal be done?
any suggestions much appreciated.
oh and the ayc fluid i took out stunk real bad as though it was burnt but its only been in 6 monthsish.
