AYC light on my evo 5 fault 12 and 82 help please!

Hi All,

Driving home today my AYC light came on after hearing a few odd squeaky noises from my rear as i turned slowley round bends following some spirited driving!

Read the codes and got
12 (AYC power supply open circuit)
82 (AYC electrical pump system)

AYC comes on after 20 secs of motion.

Also shows ABS fault 14 (Rear Left wheel speed sensor open circuit)

Checked AYC fuse looks ok what should I check next please?

ABS sensor will need replacing mate

Try an ayc oil change and bleed. If the problems still there after that then it could be the pressure switch or might need replacement pump or rebuild.

I have no ABS light on but in reading the AYC fault noticed an ABS cade as above.

After leaving the car for an hour or so the AYC light went out but the noises returned when cornering, even when going slowly (sounds like a rust hinge) then after 4 or 5 miles the AYC light returned and the noise goes with the AYC off.

What fluid do I need and where is the pressure sensor located? It has an Evo 6 rear diff, dont know if this makes any difference?

How do you bleed etc this, can you put in thicker oil to help if a pressure fault?

The car has been stood for 6 months but but moved in and out of a workshop on a daily basis but not really driven.

could the abs motion sensor on the back wheel be the problem, causing the AYC to mess up its calculations and squeak etc?? But as I said earlier the ABS light is not on.

When the light comes on the system is turned off so that is why the noise stops. I believe the noise is from the clutch packs in the diff? Change all of the oils associated with the ayc, thats the high pressure oil which needs bleeding, the clutch bath oil, and best do the normal diff oil while your there aswell. A quick search will tell you all you need to know about changing oil, bleeding etc. You cant use thicker oil but there are adjustable pressure switches available that basically tricks the control unit into thinking the pump is making full pressure. Some people see that as more of a cover up than a fix though.

Thanks, I will change oils, If this is causing the noise will this in tern bring on the AYC light as it has in this case?

Plus what are the oils needed as there is differing advice?

Code 82 is pump fail buddy! Your pump will need refurbing or replacement! Sorry to be bearer of bad news!

Not always mate, but quite likely. If the oil is really old and sh!t it will thin out so it wont reach the right pressure, or if the switch goes tits up it can show pump fail fault.

the abs sensor might need replacing. on top of that I would flush out all old fiuid and new fiuid in. All diff's and AYC.

get a wiring diagram out and make sure your getting power to the pump before condeming it

Thanks sbn, where am I best to check is there a connector I can check with my meter and do you know where it is located roughly if not where can I find a wiring diagram?

Also Can anyone confirm the oils i need and their quantity so I can get them ordered, and which oil is for what part?! I'm abit 'confused' (could also be described as 'simple'!)

What about pump refurbish kits (as seen on you tube vid) are these the way to go?
