A few weeks ago my avcr kinda turned itself off, the screen went black but the buttons were lit up, if I held a directional button the avcr would boot up but as soon as I let go it went off. A few miles later it came back on but had lost all settings.

Anyway it's just done the same thing again, black screen, hold a button and you can here the relay click and it boots up. Anybody have a clue what's goin on?

How can you say never because it's only 2 years old. Things go wrong from 'new' for many reasons. Including bad workmanship, faulty parts, damage in transit, etc

More of a shock reply than a never, that couldn't happen:D

Had a little look on the net and it turns out that a bad earth causes this problem, unsure why it still illuminates the buttons while not switching the unit on completely but I had a little fiddle with the wiring and it switched straight back on.

There is two earths so if one is still connected then the buttons will light up.. Didn't think that would be an issue. Not installed properly ;) lol
