just seen one of these on ebay

seems a great bit of kit to play with...
loving the site sofar just getting my head around it at mo cheers.

Evoscan can work well but equally it can be flakey on certain bits (ayc seems to ring a bell). Not sure if you need a certain ECU or not.
Plus with any remap, it can make or break your car.

the 1.3u cable will be able to log parameters for the evo 5-9 but will only be able to remap the evo 7-9.

evoscan software costs about £15 iirc
ecuflash software is free

evoscan although good is not very user friendly though imo

Personally unless I had the qualification or programming know-how I would think twice about touching my ECU on any car.

Some software will keep you within safe parameters so that you don't do anything too catastrophic i.e. restrict you to timing, but others will allow you into anything to do with the ECU, which means that there is more to go wrong.

Also, I would only do that if I had a dyno handy to fine tune it with a professional.

i got offered one a couple of days ago for 50 quid, you reckon i should get it pal???

if you want to map or monitor your own car then yeah, but like I said it can be a bit fiddly to get everything working as you want.
