The ecu will just plug in if it's from a E5,6 without any wiring changes.

you *may* have to snip the alternator G terminal wire at the ECU if the battery isn't charging (will need to check while its running)

big thanks to everyone for the help so far,

i have some evo 6 injectors, i was going to fit a evo 6 ecu too,
but a got the apexi at the right price
so is it best to stick with 4 injectors or put the 6 ones in, for when i get it mapped?
(i am looking for about 350 ish bhp tops for now)

list before i get it mapped...
de cat
welbro fuel pump
tubular manifold
air filter intake pipe
injectors?

the apexi should already be set up for the 560 cc evo 6 injectors so put them in

and your list of mods looks like a good place to start .

but speak to your tuner befor you do to much or to little to your car as they all have there fav mods :O)

i would recomend some arp rod bolts to .

good luck buddy .

thats sounds like a good idea, i will give him a buzz today,
just some back ground on the ecu, it was in a 5 with a tubular manifold and stock everything else,

also if it changes anyting i have a evo 8 mr turbo on my car,
would it be best to put a bigger intercooler on or stick with standard,
(ps these parts i intend in fitting i have already):D

Bigger intercooler I would say before your mapping starts, can't halm and adds power too so helps a lot

you'd be better off sticking to the standard ecu over the apexi as it has more features and has the knock control

As Rich says check the voltage across the battery terminals when the car is running as it needs to read 14v.

If not pin 33 may need removing.

Stock 4 ECU isn't mappable, he did say he was going to get a 6 ECU, but got the A'Pexi at a good price. It will do the job if he just wants a basic remap and not NLTS, anti-lag, launch control, etc. PFC still supports CEL on Knock & CEL when the injectors go beyond a pre-set threshold.

yeah I know the 4 isn't mappable, but your better putting in a 5-8 ecu over the apexi

only if you insist on all the other toys mentioned above, which are mostly pointless on a road car.

i love the apexi and would have it over a standard ecu any day if i had the 2 options :)

Problem with the A'Pexi though is you loose all OEM diagnostic features, knock control, etc which are useful on a road car. Also the SAS becomes useless for those all important pop & bangs, lol and it does not support negative timing in the map for said pops & bangs.

It does the job, but the OEM ECU is better and does more things, not to mention on an Evo 5 onwards is part of the car, so no cost implication and supports switchable maps, valet mode, etc all for free.

PowerFC is a step back from the stock 5-onwards ECU IMHO, but the OP got it for a good price and it will work for what he needs it for, so fair play.

yeah i totally agree with what you are saying, the standard ecu has features available that the PFC doesn't, but that doesn't IMO make it better. it may perhaps make the PFC look like a dinosaur compared to it, but i do a lot of mapping, standard and aftermarket, and i'd still rather use a PFC. works perfectly, easy to scale new injectors, easy to scale load (seconds) dead easy to map, live mapping etc. from my point of view its bang on.

hi make all the changes you want to make befor you get it mapped to save any fecking about sorting problems that might arise buy adding parts then having to tweek the map again .

i have a e4 and the pump was changed by cutting the pipes and not removing the tank by the last owner not me so its not that hard to do if you want to take the short cut ,

but if i was to do it i would remove the tank and not cut the pipes ...but thats just me ..:O)

remember the pump likes 14v so you want to hard wire it thro a relay switched off the oe pump wiring ...

as befor find a tune that you want to use and ask them there views , but its always good having a idea of what you want first

:O) thats why your asking here :O)

.

ps i run a power fc d' jetro , walbro pump and pte 880cc injectors , coil on plugs and bc cam's ect , ect :O)

you will probably need an upgraded acuator too mate one from an evo 8 is what most go for as the 4 acuator rusts and seizes up
