Anyone knowledgeable about anti lag systems?

I'm looking online and I'm coming out with more questions than answers!

So I'm told than you can have less aggressive set ups that won't be excessive strain on my turbo. Some are saying that you can have a switch to turn it on and off if needed?

The owner of the garage that are fitting my exhaust said he put a spark plug into his exhaust to achieve it.

Another person said that it can be set up when getting a remap on your ecu
And finally the most promising thing that I heard: Mitsubishi had some sort of system that was less stressful that was on some Evo 7s.

As you can already tell, I'm clueless on this!

I think it's always bad for your turbo, I have a friend with a 650bhp supra if he wanted anti lag they said he would have to sign a disclaimer because it will kill his turbo that quickly. I think you can get pops and bangs mapped in tho if your just wanting the pops? I'm no expert tho so maybe worth calling apt in Norwich see what they say?

It's not just the turbo that get the strain.

Watched a friend cook his valve stem seals with just a couple revs on his scoob from the excessive heat.

Must admit when he switched it on it sounded amazing but unless it's for a reason, ie to improve lap times by vital hundredths of a second due to less lag, then it's just not worth cooking the internals for.

I say that and my friend understood this and still had it added :razz:

isnt a kicker needed for anti lag?

mate of mine has a 550bhp mk3 astra
1500 engine management
kicker system

an its serious banging

You can have what sounds like anti lag mapped into standard ecu, which uses the SAS on the car.

To have proper anti lag the as above , you need an ecu capable of running it, throttle kicker system and a vac pump to keep vacume for your brakes.

If a garage told me to put a spark plug in the exhaust then they would never touch my car again!!!

That's why I asked you guys seeing as I'm clueless about it. I'm guessing he was just on about getting pops and bangs but still seems like a hatchet Job!

My evo pops an bangs a tad when changing gear
im near sure my timing is out a touch for that to happen though


i thought the spark plug in the exhaust was for a flamer kit or something?

Yes it was spark plug in the exhaust for a flamer kit!

Mcfall a remap with pops and bangs will do that, should listen to my vid of the first lap around nurburgring! Every gear change! After that I had it toned down lol

not sure what route is best for us coming from N.Ireland, boat or eurotunnel
any idea on prices PP for boat/tunnel, hotel/B&B etc....?

We went bank holiday weekend always busy lots of cars to see, prices I can't remember hotel was around 200 pp for three nights... Maybe less actually, train I think no more than 100-120 per car so if your passenger goes halves.laps were (in 2012) €26 ish
