Ive got a Civic Type R for a road car. Evo is in a different world!
If you can run one its worth it but if you do moonship miles its a tad expensive...

The power and the power delivery is broad and fast. Brakeing is fast and hard and relentless. Handling is precise, and responsive. It feeds back great.

Its just a faster car. Your stepping up from a fast fwd car to a very fast 4wd car and you get associated improvements...

hey mate i havnt gone from a integra type r to a evo4 but i have gone from a dc2 integra type r to a evo3
the evo does every thing that the evo does but it does it faster and more aggressivley
it uses a bit more fuel in doing it but that is the sacrifice we make
if you want any info feel free to give me a yell

Really, let me know how you get on fella.
I'd absolutely love a V or VI but didn't really want to spend that much money.

There is a MINT Icelle Blue VI on the Lancer Register for £8000 but it's got 90k on the clock.
but i've fallen in love with this V on Pistonheads, but it's in Northern Ireland which is a bit too much of a trek.

Mitsubishi : mitsubishi evo 5

You can't really compare a Teg to an EVO, they are both totally different cars, built for totally different things. The EVO is precise repsonsive and will do whatever you want whenever you want to do it.

Performance wise, the EVO could give the Teg a 5 second head start and would still be left for dust, it out handles, out brakes, and out accelerates and as opposed to a V-tec that does next to nothing, when the turbo kicks in you hang on :D

If your serious about buying an EVO though, be aware of the costs, clutches can be anything between £400 - £1000, AYC needs changing yearly and thats around £180 - £280. I've used £230 of V-power in 10 days lol...

On another note, I too was looking at a V or VI. Have a look at a IV, they are virtually identical bar the ECU and interior, and they are just as quick. Better buying a MINT IV than a dodgy V or VI...

while your on the subject of the evo 4.... iv heard 2 different stories about them, and most storys i have heard is that the turbo goes easily on them which put me right off them big time, hope i dont affend any1 by that comment, if i did then i didnt mean to, pluss the 5 and 6 looks a whole lot nicer by far,

as for the teg, yes there is a huge difference between that and the evo's but the teg can stil surprise people and the vtec noise is amazine :D but into the bagain im lookin forward to a turbo'd car,

£230 of v power in 10 days...... wtf mate  how many miles did u get for that??? or do u just have a heavy right boot :D

No matey, the issue with the IV is Crank Walk if the engine isn't serviced and they are taken to above 400bhp+ the crank can phyiscally move. With regards to the turbo's that's Urban Myth, we have a friend with a 400bhp V and a 280bhp IV and he says in every possible way the IV is just as good, apart from the power.

The AYC, Active Yaw Control is the system that controls the differential between the rear wheels, it's one of the features that makes the EVO such a good handling car, if not looked after the repairs START from around £800+ the expensive bit is the fluid as ONLY Mitsubishi can supply it due to the materials used to create it.

With regards to fuel, have done a lot of miles matey, however I can tell you I've tried taking it steady and still got no more than 160 miles out of my tank.

Not meaning to insult you with the Teg comments dude, we had a Dyno'd 200bhp FTO GPX Manual previously, was a quick car, but they just aren't in the same world.

Take one for a spin, see how it feels, you'll love it, but be warned EVO ownership is very expensive and parts cost more on a V/VI pads are more expensive as are discs... Has to be run on V-power, Oil and Plugs every 3000 miles, leads once a year. They are amazing machines, but the performance comes at a price. I too love the style of the V/VI though :)

Check out Mitsubishi Lancer Register for a guide to running costs, don't get me wrong dude, don't want to put you off, they are amazing, but need to be well looked after :D

thanks for the info dude :D

just had a wee look at that link mate and there is very little difference between the 4 and the 6  hhhmmmmm u have me thinkin now, just out of interest would a 6 bumper fit on a 4?? sounds stupid i know but i thought id ask

wen u talk about crank walk and the engine needing serviced are you meaning this can happen only wen u go 400bhp+ or even in standard performance figures? wots in volved in a typical service on the evo?

sorry with all the questions but i just need to know everything inside out before giving up my teg and moving on to the evo and then find out i cant afford to maintain the fecker lol

any major evo specialist should be able to change the ayc oil for you, and usually comes as part of a service, or for an extra £40 ;)

also with the 4 you can get alot of bumpers to change the look completley.. i had a hks kensei on mine with a carbon hood, and it looked nothing like a 4 in the end (apart from behind)

Typical service is the usual, parts just cost slightly more due to the parts required eg. Fully Synthetic oil, Platinum plugs etc.

You can buy a full kit for the 4 that give you the arches of the 5/6. This is something I've been looking at for mine too :D Or get a TME kit if that's your thing :D
