hi, i just sold my sti scoob,to buy an evo7.The scoob is a more comfy car,but doesn't handle nowhere near as good as the evo !!!!!! performance, they're not that too far apart, depends on what model...

Hi peepes. newbie on here. I have just swaped my hawkeye sti with every prodrive bit on it for a evo 9 fq340. at first thought i made a mistake. nothin can beat the noise of the subaru burble! however you only have to drive an evo for a short time to realise how special the handling is. in a straight line there wouldnt be too much in it but around a track or country lanes the evo is king. running both a evo and scoob would be mega money unless you got a lottery win :).

I've driven nearly all the diferent models of scooby before I got my evo, when I started looking for a new car I new it was going to be either the scoob or the evo, after a lot of test drives in different scoobys I thought it was time to look at evos,I have a soft spot for the evo6 tme but took an evo 9 out, it was love at first test drive lol, then spent a yr finding the one I wanted, ended up with an evo 8 mr340, no offence to the scooby guys but for me personaly there's no comparison.

Well i enjoyed 2 days of my Evo out of 7 weeks of owning it,5 weeks of the 7 the car was in the garage getting repaired under warranty.
They say Subaru have chocolate pistons but out of the 5 Impreza's ive owned ive had no bother,Im glad i still had my Series McRae and i was glad to see the back of the Evo.

Shame really as i had always wanted an Evo but Scooby rules for me,Scoobys may not be as fast or look as good as the Evo but they drive and handle better

The garage that sold me my Evo has been reported to Trading Standard, i cant blame the car it was the garage that services Evo's in Singleton near Blackpool

You do know that the Scooby burble is mostly down to the exhaust system right???

Black Evo 4, I think you were miss sold an Evo and the between that and the service guy, your car was killed off.

Get a nice clean III and you will be chuffed. It is close to the Scooby in that you have to be a driver to appreciate it.

scooby burble is due to unequal length exhaust manifold headers ( 2 on the passenger side are longer by 2x the length ( about 300mm )

the subaru for me is the better car for money and price/availabilty of parts
also better in sti form ver 3 or above only though
standard wrx's are not worth the money really ( cheap thrills ) very soft bearings as standard
age wise the subaru sti up to version 5 ( my99/00 ) is better looking than evo 1 to 4 versions ) but anything above an evo5 i believe i would take over the subaru anyday

in comparrison though i think the ayc is what makes the evo ''an evo'' lol sublime handling and unlike the impreza is sturdy ''ish'' when hitting the edinburgh cobbles lol as for the impreza in this regard it feels really like the door cards and windows etc are going to either fall off or crack :)

overall i would choose an sti version 3 to 5 over an evo 1 to 4
anything newer than a my00 ( 2000 ) impreza and an evo 5 would be difficult to chose but going more with my head than my heart i think the evo is king for evo5 onwards

I've had many subaru's and still have a P1. Evo's tend to drive more smooth than the subaru's. They both drive different. Subaru's seem to have more oversteer.

You need an STi to match an evo really. The UK subaru's (turbo 2000) are a little on the slow side.

Downside to evo's 4 onwards is the ayc going wrong whereas on the subaru they don't have that to go wrong (but have the dccd to go wrong on the RA and type R models which are imports).

I know I'd go for an evo over a subaru. Not sure why but I would
