are you sure its the AYC pump thats making the noise and not the fuel pump?
do you have an afr gauge so that you can check the mixture? MAke sure you check all the boost pipes one might have blown off.

I would have said it sounds like fuel cut, has the boost been turned up ??

If not then I would have been checking the vac pipes on the inlet manifold.

no boost not been turned up unless its actuator faulty?? i aint fitted my boost controller yet so the boost is still what it was when mapped but that was months ago . and ive checked all pipes on inlet too and they all seem fine:confused:

New walbro fitted? Check all elec connections and filter and pump itself.
Fuel cut at 3000rpm would indicate actuator problem.
All vac pipes may have been checked but do a leak test as your problem occurs under load and not at idle.
Whining noise would also indicate the walbro, not the ayc. Walbros do make more noise than std.

also make sure the fuel pressure regulator still has its vaccuum pipe

cheers for replys!

the walbro 255 fitted bout 7/8 months ago been fine no problems with it, ill be double checking that today and will get back to use!
And the fuel pressure reg still has the vaccume pipe. I have a uprated actuator here from jamie but still not fitted yet could maybe try that and see if that solves the problem but im led to believe once you have fitted that your best getting it on rollers to make sure its not over boosting ect this true but surely u can tell with your boost gauge in your car??

cheers lads
ross.

yeah you can tell from the in car boost gauge, if you know what it was mapped to (i.e. 1.6bar) then once you fit the actuator then you might see 1.8bar, what you need to do then is to turn down the duty on the boost controller until you get back to 1.6 bar,

Although if you start to go over the 1.6 bar then stop the run straight away, I would suggest you turn the duty down straight away to 1/2 the current value then start to increase it until the 1.6 bar is reached

Cool bud cheers thats what i thought well when matty put the map on it
he said i need to get myself a uprated actuator as it was not holding boost
to well, but the map he put on it was for an uprated one which i believe is 1.8 bar
is that correct?? if so ill be save to set this up to 1.5-1.7 not to keen on going to 1.8 on
std evo 4 engine. its aslo a r spec manusl boost controller ive got?

cheers m8

your running a std 4 engine at 1.8 bar  ? or the map was from a car running 1.8 bar? if you put an 1.8bar actuator on then the turbo won't go below 1.8bar (know as actuator pressure) I'd say ~1.4 would be the max I would run,

Have you just downloaded a map on the car or was your car mapped to your car?

NO my car aint running 1.8 lol!
what i was meaning was thats what the actuator i have was good for.

the car was mapped by wallace performance and he mapped it as if it had the uprated actuator on it??

so does that mean that your rich top end? as he was expecting you to change it over, do you have any method of measuring the afr?

Bakcfiring does not sound like fuel cut. Fuel cut will feel like hitting a brick wall at 30 MPH and throw you forward, then after a second pick up again and go as normal. It won't backfire.

Backfiring sounds like some sort of fueling issue, but not fuel cut. Possibly clogged/dirty fuel filter (in tank or engine bay) or clogged injectors. Had a 180sx that did the same come to me a while ago, AFR's were into the 16's when he tried to accelerate. Changed the fuel filter and brown sludge came out which made it better, but not perfect. Changed the injectors for known good ones and it was spot on after that with AFR's being what you would expect from a factory map (10.6/10.7 on WOT).

I can check if over for you if you want mate, just waiting on a new wideband sensor to arrive.
