I always thought this to be the case Jamie (not threw experience) but noticed a post of Grayw's the other day saying something along the lines of it got nothing to do with it? (dont quote me though)

I have done 2 Evo 6's that have had complete Evo 7 engines in inc manifolds and the pops did not work on both of them one of the cars had the pops on before the change and they worked spot on with the original engine and manifolds
