Are we against purchasing aftermarket parts for our Evos or do we not care as long as the supplier for aftermarket parts is reputable?

Depends on what it is. Just ask (wingnut247) on here what happened to his cheap cambelt kit

Sorry for the thread revival...

What about aftermarket coil packs? I'm assuming everyone who runs a stage 1 or more does so on OEM coil packs?

So would you ever use aftermarket coil packs if you run big power? Or you can only trust OEM?

for BIG power I would go aftermarket, but until you reach BIG power it is pointless changing them.

Lee, I can only imagine what it is like to have that much power. I have been in a 500bhp R32 Skyline and that was immense so to have MORE power in a car approx 400kg lighter must be epic!

With regards to coil packs, on Camskill they have two different types... One is genuine OE and the other is an aftermarket (I know the price means quality of product will be different) but would any of you actually say you would never use the aftermarket over OE?

Well when fitting OE it last longer so as the old saying goes "buy cheap and you'll buy twice"

I'd only fit after market if it was an upgrade like exedy, hks, apexi, ams.

Cool, thanks for replies.
In case any of you were wondering why I'm asking about his, I'm currently in the process of eliminating potential causes to an issue I have at the moment.

Quite long, brace yourself haha... leave the car overnight and first time you turnover, it sounds and feels weak but always ignites. (The weak ignition happens 9 out of 10 times)
Immediately try to pull away and the car jolts and is slow to respond, feels like it doesn't want to go, almost like I'm forcing it to go. (Bare in mind, the car is trying to warm up and is revving at around 2k). This happens EVERY time!!
Once I get the car moving, (2 out of 10 times) when I accelerate gently or foot flat, the car will start to shake/stutter but still gradually accelerate.
Lastly, even when warm, when driving hard, the car will shake/stutter (usually around 5k) but this doesn't happen all the time but still frustrating!!

Sorry for the long post.

Sounds like fuel issues to me, best get it to a tuner as lee says or you could be spending out a lot on needless parts.

I go to Hayes Engineering in Erith (some might know it as Dynotech).
I would love to just leave it with them to work on but its my daily driver and funds are not exactly in my favour at the moment especially after being crashed into two days ago at Lakeside
So thought I'd ask on here first and see if anyone had the same experience and could tell me what was wrong.
At the moment, my thinking is, it still runs and gets me from A to B so I should count myself lucky that its not off the road.
